1st Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of Go
The cross is the most powerful message in the bible. It communicates the following
1. Fulfillment of Prophecy. The old Testament is a shadow, full of typology while the new testament is the fulfilment of the old Testament shadows and typology.
2. Solves the antinomy nature of God. God is love and God is holy. A loving God could not judge His image man, But a Holy God had to judge sin and the cross solved the paradox.
3. Its the gate of eternity.
It’s shifted sheol to paradise. Abrahams bossom mystery was solved on calvary.
3. Met the demands of salvation.
Salvation is soteria which entails. Redemption, propitiation,expiation, atonment and reconciliation.
4. Solved the issue of sin.
The power of sin, the presence of sin and the consequences of sin.
5. The cross restored man to dominion nature. Man fell from dominion through sin.
6. The cross was the agent of victory over Satan and demonic forces. That’s why the good news begins after calvary. The news of Victory.
7. The cross was the wisdom of God concealed. The devil thought it was the end of Jesus but it was beginning of glory. And Victory. If the devil knew he wouldn’t have crucified Jesus.
Genesis 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
The first prophecy about the defeat of Satan was in Genesis. The prophecy is about the seed of a woman rising against the seed of the devil.
Naturally women have no seed. This was a prophecy about the virgin birth of Jesus. The seed of the woman will bruise the head of the serpent.
Calvary is where the show happened. The devil was seriously bruised and he lost.
There are many other prophecies that spoke about the cross and they came to pass.
Historically, the act of crucifying men was done by the Egyptians, when offering human sacrifices to their god Ra, the sun god. This act was adopted by the Romans as a way of capital punishment.
David saw the death on the cross before even Rome had become a global power.
The bible is a sure word of prophecy.
