We have been covering a very interesting topic on understanding generational assignments. If you were not with us last week, kindly check out our discussion on Gen Z’s assignment.

So, let us dive right into it, shall we?

How to understand your generational assignment

Acts 10:38 NKJV

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

This is the genesis of understanding generational assignment. What determines how we live and manifest the power of God in our generation is the word of God.

Not only have you been sealed with the Holy Spirit, who gives you the power to go about doing good as Jesus did, but you have also been given the word of God. This means that for you to understand your assignment in your generation and this world, then you need to get busy understanding the word of God.

It is the manufacturer of a device that assigns its purpose. A phone cannot all of a sudden decide that it’s tired of being a phone and it now wants to be a gun. It is God that assigns your purpose as a believer. So, if you are concerned with understanding your generational assignment, go back to the creator, and let him reveal the truth to you.

The Role of the Teaching Grace in Understanding Generational Assignment

One of the failings of the church is the lack of a teaching grace. Well, it’s not really the truth that the teaching grace has been lacking. Rather, the presence of the counterfeit has left most people misled, and unable to understand or execute their generational assignment. But good news for you; as a child of God, you have the Holy Spirit and the word of God to lead you to all truth, ensuring that you are not misled.

How to know your purpose

Every human being has a purpose attached to their lives. You can know yours through:

  • Your passions
  • Your gifts, talents, skills, and abilities
  • Your struggles/pain points
  • Prayer
  • Direct revelation

When it comes to understanding generational assignments, it is critical for you to understand that you cannot go through this journey alone. You need the wisdom of those ahead of you. You will also need the zeal and the strength of those behind you. There is a trend going on right now whose aim is to tell you that you do not need anyone. That you are all-sufficient by yourself. That is a lie. Different people will play different roles in your life. This is why you need to cultivate quality relationships in your life.

It is the will of God for you to represent Him on the earth and represent Him well. It is why He has given us His Holy Spirit and everything else that we need to execute our God-given mandate.

Executing Generational Assignment

After understanding generational assignments, it is now essential for us to learn how to execute this assignment.

2 Peter 1:2 KJV

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.

Your execution of the generational assignment is subject to your knowledge, and not just any knowledge, but knowledge of God. This is why the word of God needs to be your best friend. The more you know God, the more effective you are in fulfilling your God-given mandate.

How to study the Word of God

  1. Sit down with your bible
  2. Listen to the audio bible
  3. Listen to teachings about the word of God

What is your relationship with the Holy Spirit?

Never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit in your life. The Holy Spirit is a gift from the Father to every believer. He does more than enable you to pray in the spirit. If you allow Him, He can help you execute your assignment. He can help you grow in the knowledge of God and as you do, so will you get everything you need to lead a purposeful life.

Shall we pray?

Father, grant me the grace to seek you and to grow in the knowledge of you. I desire to lead a meaningful life. I desire to be a gift to my generation and I cannot do this on my own. Holy Spirit, I invite you to influence every aspect of my life.

In the name of Jesus.

And the saints said Amen!
